The Bathymetric Surveying and Dredging Planning Project consists of the survey, sediment testing, and planning for Lake Templene located in Sections 26, 27, 32, 33, 34 and 35 of Nottawa Township and Sections 3, 4, and 5 of Sherman Township in St. Joseph County, Michigan. Lake Templene, which was constructed in 1970 as an impoundment on the Prairie River, has a surface area of 883 acres, mean depth of 4.9 feet, and approximately 19 miles of shoreline.

The Lake Templene Property Owners Association has expressed concerns that the Lake is in need of dredging and that a detailed countour map and overall plan for future dredging projects is needed. The goal of this project will be to provide the Property Owners Association with a bathymetric map of Lake Templene that can be used to plan for future dredging projects, educational outreach, and recreational uses. Once this map is prepared, we will work with the Lake Templene Property Owner’s Association to identify possible projects and develop a long term dredging project plan.
